This 3 Days safari takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the best place to enjoy game viewing in Uganda. Located in Western Uganda, this world biosphere reserve protects a wide range of flora and fauna including the famous tree climbing lions of the Ishasha, large herds of buffaloes, elephants, antelopes of various species, large schools of hippos that span the Kazinga Channel and more.
Day One: To Queen Elizabeth N.P. – Sundown Game-drive.
At 0630hrs, meet, greet and assist at your residence in either Entebbe or Kampala. After briefing and individual introduction, get on board and start your journey driving westward. Initial stop at the Equator Point for a chance to stand in the Imaginary middle of the planet for a photo-opportunity. You will also be privileged to attend and demonstration that shows the variation in the direction of flow of water at the Equator, a few degrees north and a few degrees south!! Continue and break for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre; you will also have the occasion to visit a museum that comprises of traditional items of the indigenous communities. Proceed through Ankole farmlands to finally access Queen Elizabeth National Park via Katungulu gate. The descent divulges the panoramic beauty of the park dotted with trees, crater lakes and lakes; George & Edward. Take and introductory game-drive and finally end your day at your preferred lodging facility.
Day Two: Sunrise-game – Kazinga Boat – Brief-Sunset Game-drive.
Wake-up to the sounds of the nature, get on board and embark on a sunrise game-drive. The vast savannah plains, swamps and forests of Queen Elizabeth are home to about 95 mammals and over 600 bird-species. Look-out for lions, leopards, elephants, warthogs, bushbucks, cape buffaloes and waterbucks among others. We shall utilize a network of trails to access animal habitats and create more avenues for you to see and experience as much as nature shall make available.
After lunch, transfer to the pier/dock to arrive on time for your afternoon boat-ride on boat Kazinga Channel. A thread of water that joins lakes George and Edward, Kazinga Channel is lifeline/habitat to Nile Crocodiles, arguably the highest concentration of Hippos on planet Earth, different species of Egrets, Goliath Herons, and Saddle – billed Storks, African Fish Eagles, Egyptian Gees and Cormorants among other bird species. The channel is a source of for Elephants, buffaloes and many other bird-species. Return to the dock and exploit the remaining part of the day in the wild. Meals and bed at your preferred lodging facility.
Day Three: Chimpanzee Tracking – Travel Back to Kampala.
Watch the sunrise as rays beam over Queen Elizabeth N.P. plains, have an early breakfast and check-out. Join your driver/guide, transfer to Kyambura Gorge to embark on a chimpanzee tracking activity. Kyambura connotes “I searched and failed to find”, indigenous people failed to find the source of water that flows in the gorge. The closet “cousins of man” (chimpanzees) live and wander in the think forest on the banks of the gorge. Chimpanzee tracking here involves descending and ascending on the banks of the gorge. Apart from chimpanzees, Kyambura Gorge is a hotspot for greater and lesser flamingos as well as the great Egret. Return to the staging area where you will join your driver and exit through Kabatooro gate. Another stop at the Equator by Kikorongo Road for a photo-opportunity. Continue and break for lunch at Fort Portal town (the only town with an English name). Take a leisurely but scenic ride over hills, down valleys, through tea plantations and trading centers back to Kampala. Drop-off and your residence in Kampala.
